Boom Truck Operator

The following is a breakout of the "Boom Truck Operator" course for engineering employees.

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of the course, the trainee will be able to perform all of the tasks and associated sub-tasks indicated below:

  • Inspect and perform basic maintenance of 0-8 ton boom
  • Demonstrate load/lift theory
  • Read and understand a load chart and perform load calculations
  • Assess and solve lift scenarios
  • Set up and lift various loads
  • Identify important elements related to construction, inspection and safe handling of wire ropes, chains, synthetic slings and other rigging hardware
  • Recognize the various factors to consider when properly planning a crane lift, as well as the precautions that must be taken during a lift
  • Identify proper blocking procedures.
  • Identify the different types of crane set-ups and determine crane capacity using crane load charts.

DURATION: This course is of a 5 day duration.

CLASS SIZE: 2 - 4 trainees

The course goal is to certify trainees on safe operation of Boom truck 0 - 8 ton crane.
